Welcome, my name is Eve. I am an experienced and accredited Psychotherapist trained in trusted, evidence based, NICE recommended psychotherapies for Trauma & PTSD - Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
I offer online and in person CBT & EMDR.

I have a special interest in trauma and PTSD and supporting individuals where their past experiences have led them to be hyper independent, seek perfection and experience low self-esteem. 

My practice is guided by values of warmth, connection, collaboration and curiosity. I will value your contributions and strengths and through a collaborative process support your authentic growth.

TO THOSE WHO HAVE HAD TO BE SELF RELIANT AND INDEPENDENT AND ARE TIRED OF HOLDING IT ALL, I see you.

Past experience has led you to feel you have to always be self-reliant and independent. You have perhaps learned that showing vulnerability is not safe, it is hard to trust others or that if you don't take care of things they do not get taken care of. Being self reliant and independent are incredible strengths that have kept you safe, helped you handle problems on your own, offered a sense of control and predictability and led you to excel in some aspects of life. 

The trouble is the armour that has kept you safe can also lead to you feel exhausted, have difficulty relaxing and experience problems with your sleep. You may also feel isolated and less connected to those around you. At the core you may experience a sense of not being good enough. This in turn may impact on your actions. For example, delaying or avoiding taking on a promotion at work or when doing well feel like an imposter. You may set high standards or find it hard to say no. It may impact on forming and maintaining relationships with others. Despite best efforts you are caught in a loop of not feeling good enough. You have carried a lot on your own, for a long time and that load is now impacting, without a space where you feel seen, heard or understood the load feels too much.

Therapy is not about getting rid of your strengths but recognising opportunities where you may no longer need the armour in the same way and develop a way of flexibly navigating in the world that still feels authentic to you. You may feel stuck in a space of recognising the load feels too much and that sharing this feels risky, raises feelings of vulnerability or could undermine your sense of self or identity. I will go at your pace, take time to understand you and value your strengths. You are not alone, together we can explore what it feels like to be strong and supported without losing yourself. Through trusted and evidence based psychotherapies I will help you feel less stuck and support you bring about change that feels meaningful and authentic to you.

ABOUT ME 

Experienced & Accredited Psychotherapist & Supervisor

I am experienced and accredited in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and CBT Supervision (BABCP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
I support adults with Depression and Anxiety and have a special interest in PTSD & Trauma.

I have over 14 years experience in the NHS and private practice. I have over 9 years supervision experience in the NHS, private practice and as a CBT Clinical Supervisor for the University of Reading. 

Outside of the Therapy Room

Outside of the therapy room I enjoy the gentle rhythm of life in Somerset. I enjoy gardening,  flower arranging, pilates, staying active, and exploring nature with my two Whippets.
